Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today issued the following statement after passage of the Delivering for America Act in the U.S. House of Representatives:

"Today, the U.S. House of Representatives made it clear that we will not tolerate the Trump Administration's deliberate sabotage of the U.S. Postal Service. I supported this bill because my constituents rely on timely mail service for lifesaving medications, social security benefits, tax refunds, and important documents. It's clear the Trump Administration's so-called restructuring efforts have slowed mail delivery that in turn puts the health of millions of Americans at risk and raises the likelihood that millions of mail-in ballots will not be delivered in time this November. The Republican Senate needs to stand up to this Administration and give the post office the resources it needs to operate effectively and efficiently."

The Delivering for America Act provides $25 billion in critical funding to support the Postal Service. It also prohibits the Postal Service from implementing any changes to operations or level of service it had in place on January 1, 2020, including any revision of service standards, closure of post offices or reducing hours, barring overtime pay, and making other changes that would delay mail or increase the volume of undelivered mail.
